1. And you may ask yourself, "Well... how did I get here?" (Tell us your journey?)
I was raised to care about the environment. My parents took my siblings and I on trips to places like the 'Centre for Alternative Technology' in the UK, brought reusable bags to the store in the 90s, and had us growing fruit and veg in our local village garden patches.
Studying civil and structural engineering, and later environmental planning and management, gave me a solid grounding to pursue a career in the environment sector. I spent a number of years cleaning up old industrial sites and operations, then consulting with companies on climate change and sustainability. All of that helped me find my way to Persefoni, where I work as a Director in the Climate Solutions team.
2. And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile. (What do you do at Persefoni?)
At Persefoni, I help customers and internal teams understand greenhouse gas accounting and reporting.
Companies large and small, listed and private are increasingly focusing on their environmental impact. It is crucial that we understand, manage, and reduce emissions from operations and supply chains if we're going to avoid the worst effects of climate change. My role at Persefoni helps accelerate progress towards a sustainable future, and I enjoy sharing my experience and expertise with people interested in making a difference.

3. And you may ask yourself, "Where does that highway go to?" (What are your hopes for your time at Persefoni?
At Persefoni, I hope to deepen my environmental knowledge and stay up to date with all things carbon and climate change. The science and expertise in this field is constantly evolving, and ongoing learning is critical to the success of Persefoni.
Overall, I hope to see Persefoni enabling a new “business-as-usual” which integrates environmental practices that are ambitious, transparent, and high-integrity.
4. And you may say to yourself, "My God! What have I done?" (Why is Persefoni a great home for you?)
Persefoni enables me to work on something that inspires interest, passion, and an enthusiasm to learn more. Before I joined, I frequently read articles and publications on the subject matter I now get to spend every day working on.
I love talking with and meeting people, and at Persefoni this is a part of my daily work experience. The role suits my nature and provides constant variety.
On top of that, the company is great! Leadership is genuine, inspiring, and visionary; teammates are smart, fun, and likeminded. Never have I known such a high concentration of people with the same hobbies – the Colorado team often meets up for work / rock climbing sessions.
Working at a startup is more fun than I imagined – the freedom and empowerment to do what makes sense and a bias for action keeps work entertaining!

5. And you may find yourself in another part of the world... (Tell us about your life/hobbies away from work?)
Like many of us in the Colorado-based Persefoni team, I enjoy many outdoor activities – biking (road and mountain), rock climbing, backpacking and skiing, as well as learning new things (this year, it's scuba diving).
As a Brit in the US, it's been fun experiencing the variety America has to offer. I'm also excited to spend the month of June traveling and working remotely across Europe with my girlfriend!
“Once in a Lifetime" is a series of articles designed to help our customers and partners learn more about Persefoni's truly passionate team. We're not just building award-winning software ... together, we're helping to decarbonize our planet.
