Getting to know Persefoni: Meet Matthew Roda

1. And you may ask yourself, "Well... how did I get here?" (Tell us your journey?)

My childhood was spent disassembling the family electronics (and figuring out how to repair them before I was caught), helping my mom in the kitchen, and traveling with my dad and siblings. I grew up in Scottsdale, Arizona, camping and hiking in the winter and otherwise avoiding the heat in front of my computer. I met my soon-to-be wife in highschool and followed her to Tucson, Arizona where I found culinary school and eventually a fulfilling path in the culinary industry. My childhood love for technology never waned, and after another move back to Phoenix I sought employment in the IT field. After our wedding in early 2020, the COVID-19 lockdowns allowed me time to focus on education and dedicate my efforts towards establishing a career in IT.

2. And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile. (What do you do at Persefoni?)

I am a Senior IT & Application Support Associate. Currently I am in charge of user onboarding and hardware management, as well as providing internal support and administration for our various business applications. As part of my onboarding duties, I get to meet all of our new team members and watch Persefoni's rapid growth from the front row. My goal is to empower my coworkers with the tools and support they need to carry out the company's mission.

3. And you may ask yourself, "Where does that highway go to?" (What are your hopes for your time at Persefoni?

My current priority is to increase efficiency within my role through personal development and process improvement. By leveraging the functionality of our existing technologies, as well as working with our Digital Operations team, I hope to create streamlined and scalable onboarding processes to support Persefoni's growth.

On top of developing and improving my skills within my role, I hope to deepen my understanding of the full scope of the climate crisis; I believe this is the most important issue facing humanity and the complex nature of the issue requires transparent and reliable reporting tools like Persefoni's carbon management platform.

4. And you may say to yourself, "My God! What have I done?" (Why is Persefoni a great home for you?)

Persefoni provides me the opportunity to contribute to something that I think will be an important step towards correcting a long history of environmental neglect. While here, I have been constantly inspired by the talent and drive of my coworkers and leaders. I have not only found a supportive and challenging workplace; I have found a community of like minded individuals working together for a common goal.

5. And you may find yourself in another part of the world... (Tell us about your life/hobbies away from work?)

As a new homeowner, my hobbies currently consist of home projects, home maintenance, and home repair. I spend what is left of my free time listening to music on my hifi system, walking or hiking with my wife Roxy and our dog Oliver, or gaming with friends. I hope to find the time to take a welding course soon.
