To successfully execute a decarbonization journey towards net zero, an organization must consider assessing its current carbon footprint and readiness for change by setting clearly defined science-based targets and conducting a GHG inventory. Evaluating an organization’s readiness also involves scenario planning and support from internal stakeholders and garnering financial capacity to invest in sustainable technologies and practices.
After careful consideration, the organization can take action to achieve its goals through industry and business-specific decarbonization actions. They can also familiarize themselves with evolving decarbonization technologies, market trends, and regulatory frameworks by regularly reviewing and updating decarbonization strategies and action plans.
Reporting and documenting findings can provide your organization with a comprehensive and transparent outline of the exact methodology, data sources, and emissions calculations that went into quantifying your organization’s emissions.
