Introducing Persefoni’s Next Generation Climate Management & Accounting Platform, a Reimagined Experience that Simplifies and Accelerates the Decarbonization Journey

Article Overview

Let’s be honest, carbon accounting is complicated. From identifying and collecting various data sets to calculating emission sources in spreadsheets and verifying calculations, it is a time-intensive and complex process. Additionally, determining which emission sources are relevant to an organization and accurately calculating footprints across Scope 1, 2, and 3 traditionally takes industry-specific knowledge and expertise.

To help alleviate these concerns we are excited to announce the next generation of Persefoni’s industry-leading Climate Management & Accounting Platform (CMAP 2.0), now generally available. Persefoni CMAP 2.0 is the next version of the Persefoni platform which is intuitive, trusted, and simplified.

Making Carbon Accounting Intuitive and Simple with CMAP 2.0

The old adage you can’t manage what you can’t measure holds true when it comes to sustainability. Carbon accounting is the foundation of building a successful decarbonization strategy. Organizations need a simpler carbon accounting solution so they can focus time and energy on what matters most – reducing their carbon footprints.

Over the last two years, we’ve been listening to our customers, industry professionals, and conducting user research in preparation for the next generation of our platform. Our reimagined onboarding and insight discovery experience guides people through each step in the carbon accounting journey, streamlining the path to decarbonization.

With Persefoni CMAP 2.0, organizations will be able to:

  • Onboard quickly for both customers and their suppliers with an intuitive, streamlined approach across setup, insight discovery, and reduction planning.
  • Track data requests to suppliers to share their emissions information, providing a more holistic view of an organization’s carbon footprint.
  • Overcome common challenges associated with carbon accounting including data upload and connectivity to existing systems of record
  • Move through the decarbonization journey with greater ease.

Heads of sustainability departments, sustainability and ESG managers as well as sustainability analysts will experience a streamlined data collection process and have access to various dashboards to model carbon footprint data by scope and facility. All these capabilities save organizations time so they can focus on setting their carbon reduction plan, uncovering insights, and executing change management initiatives. Carbon accounting no longer has to be complicated and overwhelming. Persefoni makes carbon accounting seem simple.

What’s Included in CMAP 2.0

We believe carbon accounting should be as simple as financial accounting, and have reimagined the user experience to walk you through the decarbonization process - from data upload to insights, to decarbonization planning and footprint reduction tracking.

We begin by asking an organization a short series of questions that help us customize their user experience.  Based on responses, we build a checklist to help an organization identify data sources that will help measure their emissions (First-time Setup). Users can assign the upload of data out to individuals across the organization (Calculate Footprint). As the data is brought into the product, an organization will begin to see their carbon footprint broken down by Scope 1, 2, and 3 (Explore Footprint). Beyond measurement, organizations can also quickly and easily model scenarios and create decarbonization plans (Reduce Footprint).

Let’s break each of these steps down further.

Explore Footprint drives data exploration and insight discovery

Information is power - to make data-driven decisions, organizations can utilize analyses like trends over time and visualize a breakdown of emissions by scopes and sites to inform strategies. By having this information readily available, organizations can prioritize initiatives that help reduce top emission sources, incorporate insights into the overall business strategy, and easily report their carbon footprints to various disclosure frameworks, investors, and stakeholders.

With Persefoni Explore Footprint, organizations will be able to:

  • Analyze their carbon footprint through different visualizations to better understand what is contributing the most to your carbon footprint.
  • Gain visibility into carbon footprint trends over time.
  • Compare at a high-level how it compares to benchmarks and industry peers.

Reduce Footprint helps organizations set net-zero targets and model reduction pathways

Once an organization is ready to commit or already has committed to a public carbon reduction target, the next step is to gain visibility into what their path is to meet their goal and how they can be empowered to reduce their carbon footprint. In this phase, questions asked include, “How does my organization build a plan for decarbonization? or “What scopes or categories does my organization need to reduce to meet our goal?” There is no one-size fits all answer and developing a decarbonization pathway should be customized to your organization’s unique business operations and dependent on your organization’s current baseline footprint.

To ensure an organization is creating an effective reduction plan, having a high level footprint reduction modeling feature is critical to making data-driven decisions. By gaining insights and being able to model by scope and facility, your organization will be able to carve a path forward.

With Persefoni Reduce Footprint, organizations will be able to:

  • Take a granular look at Scope 1,2 and 3 emissions, category, and facility emissions with advanced modeling capabilities.
  • View the organization’s progress toward a carbon reduction target.
  • Understand what actions need to occur year-over-year to meet target goals.

Calculate Footprint helps organizations get started quickly and easily

Data is the core of an organization’s carbon footprint. From beginning to end, this step in the carbon accounting journey is time intensive. During this phase, an organization may be asking themselves, “How does my organization know what emission sources I should include in my carbon footprint? and “What type of data does my organization need to calculate Scope 3, Category 5: waste generated in operations? Who in my organization has this data?”

This can be overwhelming for any team to tackle. By identifying which emission sources are relevant and having the ability to track the data collection process, an organization is one step closer to actionable insights that influence your decarbonization strategies.

With Persefoni Calculate Footprint, organizations will be able to:

  • Receive guidance on which emission sources are relevant to your organizational and business needs.
  • Streamline the data collection process.
  • Create owners to collect data for specific emission sources and assign a due date to that task.

Persefoni makes the complex seem simple

We’re so excited to unveil the next generation of our leading CMAP platform. As an ERP of Climate™ platform, our goal is to take the headache out of carbon accounting and to simplify the process from beginning to end, and we believe this is a significant step forward.

In addition, we are also happy to announce the invite-only beta launch of Persefoni Essentials, a free version of our product as well as the soft launch of Persefoni Academy, an online eLearning curriculum to help busy professionals learn more about the climate management industry.
