In response to growing concerns about climate change's impact, there has been a significant surge in stakeholders' interest and expectations concerning corporate climate and environmental disclosure and governance. This interest extends beyond environmentalists to encompass mainstream investors, customers, regulators, and more. A joint report by the Society for Corporate Governance and Persefoni delves into how companies and boards are addressing these evolving pressures.

The report, based on a May 2023 survey of Society members, highlights key insights, including:

• 90% have controls and procedures to track, monitor, and report on climate and/or environmental metrics. ‍
• ‍60% reported they receive limited assurance and 6% reasonable assurance.‍
• ‍63% reported the nominating/governance board committee has primary oversight over climate and environmental issues.
